    Hi Kelli

Sorry I didn't get a chance to catch up with you after the run yesterday.  Thanks again for all of your assistance.  We really appreciate the contribution that the riders from your club make to the event a look forward to working with you again next year.  If you ever need a hand with any event that your club is looking to run please let me know as I'm sure I'd be able to rustle up a few volunteers to help.

The total number of runners registered came in at 997 which is another big jump in attendance and helps to secure the future of the event.  We couldn't have asked for better weather and the crowd at the fair afterwards was fantastic.

I only half caught the conversation yesterday when I was speaking to you as I was somewhat pre-occupied with other issues but I thought I heard that you became engaged on Friday night.  Congratulations if that is the case and best wishes.

    Regards

    Scott

    Hi

I don't normally get on to these things but this is a petition to prevent motorists from coming closer that 1 meter to a cyclist (for a new law to be passed in QLD) I think that this is a good idea.

Please log onto the link and follow the prompts it will take you 3 minutes.

It will be better for all of us.

    Please pass this on!

    Tks

    Kurt, Scott & Kelli,

If you could pass on the following message & flyer through the club it would be greatly appreciated.

As you may or not be aware I am one of 33 riders from all over the country are participating in a 1200 km bicycle ride from Brisbane to Longreach (starting 7 May 2010), raising funds on behalf of the Royal Flying Doctors Service.

Unfortunately, we are now facing some rather large Police Escort Fees (approx $15K) that are going to eat into our Fund-raising efforts.  In order to minimise this impact, the BCI organising committee have put together a Long Lunch (pun intended).

    Details of the event are:-
    Date:                Thursday 22/04/2010
Venue:              Qld Cricketers Club, 411 Vulture Street, Woolloongabba Qld 4102
Cost:                $110 per person, but discounted to $1000 for a table of 10.
Host/MC:          Comedian – Fred Lang – Extremely funny guy and worth more than the entry fee.
Guests:            Loretta Harrop, 1999 World Triathlon Champion and 2004 Olympic Silver Medalist, a very inspiring person.
    Time:                12:30pm for 1:00pm

2010 Brissie to Bay bike ride: Special deal for Cycling QLD members

The Recreation Co-Ordinater has approved this one as a major Club supported ride.  If you are interested in participating, please email secretary@duttoncycles.org.au so we can co-ordinate the Team Entry.  Wynum Redlads has a team entered and are ranked #3 with just over $1000 raised for MS.  Can DCRR channel our competitive spirit to raise more funds than a fellow cycling Club?  All for a good cause!

    ******

The 2010 Enerflex MS Brissie to the Bay bike ride will take place on Sunday 27th June and Cycling QLD has partnered with MS Queensland to offer a discounted entry price for Cycling QLD members and their friends and family.

The event is MS Queensland’s largest fundraising initiative to support people with MS. The 2010 goal is to raise $300,000 to help thousands of Australians living with multiple sclerosis.

Enter your cycling club as a team

Grab your fellow cycling enthusiasts and enter your club as a team in the ride. Team entries are a great way to get friends and family involved and share your passion for travelling on two wheels. All Cycling QLD teams will compete for the top fundraising team and you can track your progress (and competitiveness) on the event leaderboard.

Create a team by encouraging your cycling club to get together, team up and show their support for people living with MS.

    Course Information

There are three separate distances in the Brissie to Bay bike ride and these are designed to suit all abilities and fitness levels.  You can choose from the following courses:

    •                      i.            The Classic - 50km Brissie to the Bay
    •                    ii.            The Challenger – 25km Brissie to Balmoral

    •                   iii.            The Cruiser – 10km Brissie Riverside

Click here to check out the various courses and more event information.

    Contact MSQ for Further Details

Please do not hesitate to contact the MS QLD Events Team on 07 3840 0828 or email events@msqld.org.au should you have any questions or require assistance.

CQ and MS Qld look forward to your support towards the cause and hope to see you at the 2010 Brissie to Bay bike ride!

The NRG Cycling Club in Jindalee is also a newly formed cycling club that has similar interests to us.  They have approached us to look into activities where the two clubs can combine our energy to provide something a little different for our members.  Two items are being tabled at the moment. 1) A Interclub challenge at Nundah on Sunday the 23 May starting at 0800.  It would be a introduction to racing and then a crit.  2) That once a month on a reciprocating basis we join in on each others Saturday morning shop rides.  Now they have a different format for their rides and it is of course in a different part of Brisbane.

It would be great to hear from those who are interested in either events.  I'll be sending out a copy of this via email, but it would be great to get a thread going in this medium.

    Cheers

    Simon

    Hi Kelli,

I came across this in the HPRW weekly email.  I was thinking it might be good to send it out to our club members and encourage them to fill in he survey.  Usually with these things if people do not participate then the organisations behind the survey assume people just don't care and all of us have a vested interest in safer roads.
