    Dear Club / Community Representative

Thank you for your interest in the Super Sport Sign On Day initiatives scheduled for the 6 February 2011. Due to the enormous impact of the Queensland Floods on individuals, businesses and sporting facilities, the Department has decided to postpone this event. The postponement of this event will allow people to focus on assisting in the Community Recovery effort in affected communities including the cleanup and repair of sporting facilities. We apologise if this causes inconvenience to any of the agencies involved.

If your organisation has sustained flood or storm damage related to local events please contact our office on 5458 7100 for details of the Department's Sport and Recreation Disaster Recovery Program.

    Regards

Finalists decided in the Scody People's Choice Cyclist of the Year

Voting is now open to decide the Scody 2010 People's Choice Cyclist of the Year with six cyclists named as this year's finalists after the public nomination round.

World and Commonwealth Games star Anna Meares and Australian road champion Ruth Corset are in the mix for the trophy while in the men's ranks four riders made it through the nomination round.

Allan Davis won gold in Delhi and was the bronze medallist in the men's road race at the World Championships in Geelong whilst two time People's Choice winner Cadel Evans wore the rainbow stripes with pride during his reign as World Champion. West Australia's Cameron Meyer was nothing short of sensational on the track in 2010 winning triple gold at both the World Championships and the Commonwealth Games. Tasmania's Richie Porte had a stellar season that included wearing the leader's pink jersey and winning the Best Young Rider classification in the Giro d'Italia.

The Scody People's Choice Cyclist of the Year was launched in 2007 and was won by Cadel Evans in 2007 and 2009 and by Anna Meares in 2008. The trophy will be presented at the Jayco 2010 Australian Cyclist of the Year gala dinner at the Sofitel Melbourne on Collins on Sunday 5 December 2010.
